To foster science education and research, I am involved in multiple science communication projects in Africa and the UK.
Science Communication in the UK
Since 2014, I regularly participate and organise outreach activities at science festivals and open days through the Serpell Laboratory, Sussex Dementia Research Group and Alzheimer’s Research UK South Coast Network. For new activities, follow me (@mahmoudbukar) or the Serpell Lab (@SerpellLab)
TReND Outreach Programme
I founded the Outreach Programme of TReND and currently serve as the Outreach Coordinator through which I lead a team of over 100 scientists across Africa to communicate science and inspire the next generation of African scientists. For more, follow TReND (@TReNDinAfrica) or the TReND Outreach Page (direct link).
Science Communication Hub Nigeria
I founded and currently serve as the Director of Science Communication Hub Nigeria (SciComNigeria). Through this we promote public understanding of science, inspire the next generation of scientists and curate a database of Nigerian scientists and science journalists to facilitate collaborations in research and its communication. African Science Literacy Network
I founded the African Science Literacy Network (ASLN) – a partnership between scientists and journalists supporting more accurate science communication to Africa’s general population. For more, follow @AfricanSciLit or visit the ASLN website)
